Democrats think they can thwart President Trump’s plans for mass deportations if illegal aliens hideout in sanctuary cities and states.

New York City is a sanctuary city where Mayor Eric Adams has promised to assist the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement efforts.

But New York State provides an umbrella protection for illegal aliens that prohibit law enforcement from participating in detaining, arresting, and assisting with the removal of migrants.

New York’s so-called “Green Light Law” not only allows illegal aliens to obtain drivers licenses – a magnet that attracts future waves of migration – but also prevents law enforcement from enforcing ICE detainers or detaining illegal aliens based solely on their immigration status.

Border Czar Tom Homan wasn’t going to take no for an answer in his quest to deport millions of illegal aliens.

That’s why Homan traveled to New York to put Governor Hochul on notice that no matter how many hurdles she erected in his path, he was determined to carry out mass deportations.

“This is an attack on immigration enforcement, that’s plain what it is,” Homan declared. “You’re not going to stop us, New York state, you’ve got to change the sanctuary status. If you don’t, get out of the way, we’re going to do our job.”

Homan promised Hochul that if state and city law enforcement couldn’t assist ICE officers in arresting illegal aliens, Homan would just increase federal manpower heading to New York for enforcement actions to make up the shortfall. 

“We’ll double the man-force if we have to. Rather than one officer arresting a bad guy, now I have to send a whole team,” Homan added.

Homan also called Hochul out for her double talk, where she claims she wants criminal aliens deported but refuses to lift a finger to make that a reality.

“She’s talking out of both sides of her mouth, saying, ‘I want criminal aliens to be deported,’ while she wants all the roadblocks [so that] it’s not happening,” Homan continued.

Homan also slammed Democrats complaining that ICE officers were entering homes to arrest illegal aliens by pointing out that politicians like Hochul who backed sanctuary statues for preventing ICE officers to carry out these apprehensions in jails.  

“Releasing a public safety threat back into the public is just stupid, it’s just common sense,” Homan explained. “You have forced us into the community because you have failed to let us in the jail.”

New York Republicans breathed a sigh of relief that there is an administration in place willing to address the public safety threat that illegal aliens represent. 

“It is reassuring to know that we finally have partners on the federal level like President Trump and Director Homan who are prioritizing national security and public safety,” Assemblyman Matt Slater told Fox News. 

“Director Homan sent a clear message that New York’s dangerous sanctuary policies that protect criminal illegal immigrants and the Green Light Law will no longer be acceptable,” he said.
