Donald Trump campaigned on a promise to return power back to the American people by “cleaning out the Deep State, firing rogue bureaucrats and career politicians, and targeting government corruption.”
Trump went to work fulfilling these promises on Day One and continues to move at break-neck speed.
After the last eight years of witch hunts, Americans knew the waste, fraud, and corruption ran deep within the federal government.
But no one knew it was this bad.
Donald Trump created the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) as a vehicle for finding and rooting out waste in the federal bureaucracy.
Elon Musk and DOGE seized control of federal agencies and began the tedious process of combing through the data and looking for waste, fraud, and abuse.
In the Department of Education, DOGE terminated 89 wasteful contracts worth $881 million.

Overall, DOGE has terminated more than $1 billion in DEI contracts within the Department of Education.
Of course, Donald Trump previously declared that his goal was to eventually shut down the Department of Education and return the issue back to the states.
Last week, the Department of Education announced that it was reducing its workforce by half.
“Today’s reduction in force reflects the Department of Education’s commitment to efficiency, accountability, and ensuring that resources are directed where they matter most: to students, parents, and teachers,” Secretary of Education Linda McMahon said in a statement.
“I appreciate the work of the dedicated public servants and their contributions to the Department,” she continued. “This is a significant step toward restoring the greatness of the United States education system.”
Last Tuesday evening, McMahon appeared for an interview on Fox News Channel with Laura Ingraham.
Ingraham brought up the massive layoffs and wondered if they were part of Trump’s plan to abolish the Department.
“Now, is this the first step on the road to a total shutdown?” Ingraham asked.
McMahon said, “Yes, actually, it is, before adding that Donald Trump directed her to “shut down the Department of Education.”
“But what we did today was to take the first step of eliminating what I think is bureaucratic bloat, and that’s not to say that a lot of the folks — it’s a humanitarian thing to a lot of the folks that are there, they’re out of a job, but we wanted to make sure that we kept all of the right people and the good people to make sure that the outward facing programs, the grants, the appropriations that come from Congress, all of that, are being met, and none of that’s going to fall through the cracks,” she said.
McMahon echoed Donald Trump’s vision of allowing the states to run education.
“We want more money to be able to go to the states, and that’s what the President’s said all along, if we get rid of the bureaucracy, the states will get more,” she said. “It’ll go directly into the states.”
Democrats and the media are accusing Trump of waging war on education in America.
But this is not true.
America spends more per pupil than any nation in the world but ranks at the bottom when it comes to test scores.
Returning education to the states will put parents and educators, not union bosses and bureaucrats, in charge of educating the next generation of Americans.
