Dolly Parton has been one of the biggest names in country music for decades.
She’s become as close as America has to royalty.
And Kate Middleton got the shock of her life when Dolly Parton made her this deal.
Dolly Parton offers to make Thanksgiving for the British Royal Family
Country music legend Dolly Parton is known for her love of cooking in addition to her career in entertainment.
She’s released numerous cookbooks and her own line of baking products.
Parton told Closer in an interview that she wanted to have some special guests this Thanksgiving at her Dollywood resort in Tennessee.
The country music icon wanted to invite Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children to enjoy the holiday with her.
“Oh, I would absolutely love for them to come to Dollywood, that would be fantastic!” Parton said. “The kids could go on all the rides, and we would treat them like royalty! I’d give Kate my mashed potatoes – I wouldn’t put on any airs for them. I would just let them enjoy what we enjoy, and I’m sure that’s the way they would want it. I would love to have those kids at Dollywood.”
Parton missed her chance to have tea with Middleton last year when she was in the United Kingdom to promote her album Rockstar.
“I even got invited to have tea with Kate and I felt so bad, I couldn’t even go,” Parton told BBC Radio 2 at the time.
She said that her team set up a jampacked schedule for her when she was on the trip.
“One of these days, I’m going to be able to get to do that,” Parton said. “Wouldn’t that have been great.”
Dolly Parton met the Queen once in her career
Parton hasn’t been able to make the timing work to meet the Princess of Whales but she did meet the late Queen Elizabeth II once during her illustrious career.
She performed at the Queen’s Silver Jubilee event in 1977 to mark the 25th anniversary of her ascending to the throne.
“Even though you have to do the protocol, you have to bow and all that, I could tell that she didn’t care about that,” Parton told Business Insider. “That’s just something she had to do. And if somebody made a mistake, it was okay. I was scared to death that I was not going to know how to curtsy, that I wasn’t going to bend right, but she was just very warm, very sweet, and I could tell she was a very giving person. And just meeting the Queen of England, just to meet a queen, it was amazing.”
The country music legend added that she had been fascinated by the British Royal Family since she was a young girl.
Parton said she saw them as “people living in another world with riches and crowns and jewelry.”
A Thanksgiving with Dolly Parton at Dollywood would be more pleasant for Prince William and Kate Middleton than having to spend time with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on a trip to America.
