Democrat nonprofits who received $20 billion from the Biden EPA are being probed
The $1 trillion Inflation Reduction Act signed into law by former President Joe Biden in 2022 was the biggest green energy bill in history.
It became a slush fund to funnel money to environmental activist groups controlled by Democrat donors and insiders.
The Biden Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) created the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund in 2023 with more than $25 billion from the Inflation Reduction Act to dole out grants for environmental justice and disadvantaged communities.
Eight environmental activist groups with deep ties to the Democrat Party, including former Biden officials, were awarded $20 billion in grants from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund.
House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) opened an investigation into the grants by the Biden EPA.
Comer called on the eight grant recipients to testify before the committee.
“The Biden EPA tried to dodge any oversight by striking a shady deal with a financial institution to cover up its corrupt self-dealing that rewarded political cronies pushing a far-left environmental agenda,” Comer said in a statement. “The radical environmental groups profiting from Biden’s Green New Deal must be held accountable for their misuse of taxpayer-funded grants and provide information for our investigation.”
Biden’s EPA hid the money to avoid oversight
The Biden EPA parked $20 billion in a Citibank account to avoid oversight, according to Comer.
EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin tried to claw back the money and eliminate the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, but he’s in a legal fight after a Democrat judge blocked him.
Power Forward Communities, a group connected to failed Georgia Democrat Gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, received a $2 billion grant from the fund to replace gas-powered household appliances in disadvantaged communities.
Zeldin noted that Power Forward Communities only raised $100 in 2023 before the Biden EPA showered it with cash from taxpayers.
“On page one of the grant agreement, it tells them that they have 21 days to distribute all $2 billion. On page seven of the grant agreement, it gives them 90 days to complete a training called ‘How to Develop a Budget.’ I would say that any entity that needs training on how to develop a budget shouldn’t be actually distributing money before they take that training, and they certainly shouldn’t be receiving $2 billion to be distributed that rapidly,” Zeldin explained.
The Biden EPA gave $2 billion to a newly created group linked to Abrams after Biden previously credited her political activism in Georgia as playing a significant role in his narrow victory there in the 2020 Election.
Zeldin argued there was a serious “conflict of interest” with the grants distributed by the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund.
“All this money was put up front,” Zeldin said. “It was ‘here is $20 billion.’ And it was going to their friends on the Left.”
The FBI, Justice Department, the Trump EPA, and now the House Oversight Committee are investigating the shady payouts from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund.
