Ben and Erin Napier became major celebrities after their HGTV show Home Town premiered in 2016.
The couple are college sweethearts who’ve been married for 16 years.
Erin told US Weekly that she gets a little bit jealous about the attention their success has brought them.
She wasn’t happy that a woman “who looks too much like a supermodel to be messaging Ben” reached out to him on social media about working with the couple.
The imagination of the HGTV star sometimes gets the best of her.
Ben had to take a shower in the afternoon after he spilled something all over himself.
“I just wanted to let [him] know how creative my mind is,” Erin admitted.
He said that she realized that she was being ridiculous.
“Before she even called, she was like, ‘This is silly. Why am I thinking this?’” Ben recalled.
Ben added that it “goes hand in hand with communication. How you break trust [is when someone feels forced to say], ‘Why didn’t you tell me about this?’”

Ben and Erin say that “communication is a key element in a happy marriage.”
The couple have been together for 20 years and are on the same page most of the time when it comes to communication.
“We’re together all the time. I hear everything that he hears. I’m standing with him when he hears it,” Erin explained.
HGTV edits long conversations on Home Town and Home Town Takeover down to snippets that can be taken out of context.
“What they don’t realize is that a little 30-second snippet of us talking was taken from a 30-minute conversation,” Ben revealed.
“We’ve been together longer than we’ve been apart. We learned how to communicate together. It’s effortless now,” Erin said.
Starring with your spouse on a TV show is a challenge.
“Some people say, ‘Oh, I could never work with my spouse.’ But it may be that you’ve never actually tried,” Ben explained. “If you go to your parents’ house, and you’re only there for a couple days, you tend to start getting on each other’s nerves. But if you’re together for an extended period, you move beyond that, and you get into this groove together.”
Ben is a hopeless romantic who leaves love notes for his wife at home.
“They don’t say anything profound,” Erin stated. “[Just] things like, ‘I’m so thankful that it’s you and me, and that this is what our life is,’ or, ‘Thank you for being mine, and I’ll always do my best for you every day.’”
Ben and Erin Napier have replaced Chip and Joanna Gaines as the power couple of home improvement on HGTV.
