SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and his team with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) are searching for waste, fraud, and abuse in federal spending.
DOGE exposed the woke spending on things like transgender comic books in South America at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
But that could only be the tip of the iceberg of government corruption.
Musk said that he found what could be “the biggest scam of all time” during an interview with U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) on his Verdict podcast.
“One of the biggest scam portholes we’ve uncovered, which is really crazy, is that the government will give money to a so-called nonprofit, which has very few controls/ there’s no auditing subsequently of that nonprofit,” Musk explained.
The Biden administration doled out tens of billions of taxpayer money to nonprofits to advance its political agenda and take care of its allies.
“So this is the $1.9 billion to Stacey Abrams. They then give themselves extremely lavish, insane salaries, expense everything to the nonprofit, buy jets and homes and all sorts of things,” Musk said.
The Biden Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) gave more than $20 billion through the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund in grants to environmental activist groups run by Democrat donors and insiders.
Power Forward Communities, a group connected to Georgia Democrat Stacey Abrams, received a $1.9 billion grant from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund under Biden.
The group only raised $100 in 2023.
Biden’s EPA designed the grant program to have lax oversight about how the money was spent.
The Biden administration also showered the nonprofits that helped illegal aliens at the southern border to advance its open borders agenda.
“This is happening at scale,” Musk said. “This is not just one or two, we’re seeing this everywhere. It’s insane.”
The federal government wastes taxpayer money on things it doesn’t use
Musk argued that it was possible to find $1 trillion in fraud and waste in the federal government’s budget.
He pointed out that federal agencies are paying for subscriptions that have never been used.
“You don’t need to be Sherlock Holmes, okay? It’s very obvious, basic stuff. In every government department, and I say ‘every’ because we’ve not yet found a single exception, there are far too many software licenses and media subscriptions, meaning many more software licenses and media subscriptions than there are humans in the department,” Musk stated.
An agency would have 15,000 employees but have 30,000 software licenses for things like Microsoft Office.
“We found entire situations of software licenses or media subscriptions where there were zero logins,” Musk continued. “And yet we were paying for it. Yes, the government was paying for thousands of licenses of software or media subscriptions, and no one had ever logged in even once.”
Musk noted that there are more government-issued credit cards than federal employees.
“Or, like credit cards—you found the same thing with government credit cards. We found that there are twice as many credit cards as there are humans,” Musk said. “I still don’t have a good explanation for why this is the case. And these are $10,000-limit cards, so it’s a lot of money.”
The federal government doesn’t care about being good stewards of taxpayer money.
