President Trump warns on the prospect of nuclear war
President Trump has been consistent ever since his first campaign in 2016 that nuclear war is the greatest threat faced by the planet.
One of the cornerstones of President Trump’s America First foreign policy is to lower tensions with fellow nuclear powers like Russia, Communist China, and North Korea so as to avoid the type of conflict that could escalate in a civilization ending event.
President Trump expanded on his views on the dangers posed to humanity by nuclear weapons in an interview with Fox News Channel’s Maria Bartiromo.
Trump didn’t beat around the bush.
The President told Bartiromo that nuclear weapons were the greatest threat the world faced.
“We spend a lot of money of nuclear weapons – the level of destruction is beyond anything you can imagine,” Trump stated. “It’s just bad that you have to spend all this money on something that if it’s used, it’s probably the end of the world.”
President Trump mocked Biden for constantly telling the American people that climate change was the number one threat to the survival of humanity.
“I watched Biden for years say the existential threat is from the climate. I said ‘no,’” Trump added.
Calling nuclear weapons “monsters,” Trump told Bartiromo that these weapons have advanced to the point that they were vastly more powerful than the atomic bombs the United States dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to bring about the Japanese surrender in World War II.
“The greatest is sitting on shelves in various countries called ‘nuclear weapons’ that are big monsters that can blow your heads off for miles and miles and miles,” Trump continued.
In previous remarks at the White House, Trump stressed that the nations of the world already had large enough nuclear stockpiles to kill everyone on the planet multiple times over.
“There’s no reason for us to be building brand new nuclear weapons. We already have so many,” Trump explained. “You could destroy the world 50 times over, 100 times over. And here we are building new nuclear weapons, and they’re building nuclear weapons.”
That’s why Trump called out for a reduction in nuclear arms so countries could use the money instead to better the lives of their people.
“We’re all spending a lot of money that we could be spending on other things that are actually, hopefully, much more productive,” Trump declared.
Trump’s desire to avoid nuclear war is one reason he is so determined to strike a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia.
Biden recklessly escalated the war at every turn and even told donors at a fundraiser in Manhattan in the fall of 2022 that the world was closer to nuclear Armageddon than at any point since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.
Trump’s commitment to diplomacy paid off when Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the Ukrainians had accepted a 30-day cease fire deal, and now it was up to Russia to also agree so negotiations to end the war could proceed.
“We’ll take this offer now to the Russians,” Rubio told reporters. “And we hope that they’ll say yes, that they’ll say yes to peace. The ball is now in their court. But again, the President’s objective here, number one above everything else, he wants the war to end, and I think today Ukraine has taken a ‘concrete step’ in that regard. We hope the Russians will reciprocate.”
