Donald Trump could set Democrats back decades
President Donald Trump is leading the biggest assault on the Washington, D.C. Swamp in decades.
He’s trying to take the federal bureaucracy down a peg with the help of Tesla CEO Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Trump’s administration has eliminated diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs across the government, fired or laid off tens of thousands of federal employees, cut off the flow of taxpayer money to left-wing non-profits, and began the process of abolishing the Department of Education.
The power that Democrats had by controlling the federal bureaucracy for generations is under attack.
Hoover Institution Senior Fellow Victor Davis Hanson predicted that Trump’s second term could set Democrats back a generation during an appearance on Newsmax’s Finnerty.
“I don’t think they understand Donald Trump. He is not George W. Bush. He’s not a Mitt Romney. He’s not a John McCain. He’s not satisfied to just slow down the growth of the administrative state and neo-socialism,” Hanson said.
Hanson said that Trump is shifting the country’s political gravity away from the Left.
“He’s a counter revolutionary. Yeah. And he’s saying economically, politically, socially, militarily, this country has gone way to the Left, and I’m going to bring it back to the center,” Hanson explained. “And that’s so disruptive.”
Democrats made a bad bet about Donald Trump
Hanson argued that Democrats were caught off guard by the sweeping changes that Trump is trying to make.
“They didn’t think any Republican had the courage or the gumption to do that,” Hanson stated. “And he does. He’s serious. And now they’re thinking, ‘My God, the guy is really serious. He could really disrupt us for a generation.’”
Democrats are powerless in Washington, D.C. so they’ve turned to tactics like Tesla protests, according to Hanson.
“And we’ve got to stop him at any means necessary,” Hanson said. “We don’t have the Supreme Court. We don’t have the House. We don’t have the Senate. We don’t have the White House. We didn’t win the popular vote. We didn’t win the Electoral [College], but we don’t have political power other than the street and our mouth.”
He predicted that Democrats would continue to stoop to new lows in trying to oppose Trump with vulgar outbursts and encouragement for left-wing violence.
“So I don’t think there’s a bottom to it,” Hanson stated. “There should be, but each day surprises all of us if they get more and more pornographic, more and more smutty, and more and more participating, wink and nod, with terrorism.”
Democrats turned to bomb throwers like Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) to make increasingly inflammatory statements instead of pivoting to the center.
“Normally any party would self-correct. They did that after George McGovern. They did it after Jimmy Carter, and they went full centrist with Bill Clinton, or at least they feigned centrism. But this is unusual that they know what’s killing them, and yet they double down on it,” Hanson added. “It’s almost like a mixture of, I guess I’d call it smut chic all the way down to terrorist porn, because they’re cutting videos where senators are saying S***, or they’re calling Elon Musk a D***, or A**, this horrible, this smut language.”
